Meadowvale White Team 116 headed off to Ottawa this past weekend to take part in the Holiday Classic Hockey Tournament. With a short bench of eleven players, they won their Friday game and won one of their two Saturday games. On to the quarters Sunday morning. They won the quarters and the semis in shut outs and headed into the final game against a team they hadn’t played yet so they didn’t know what to expect. With five minutes left in the third period, they were down 2-0. The coach from the other team was removed from the game and this led to our guys rallying, tying the game and winning in overtime! Long after the medals gather dust, these kids will remember the friendships, the teamwork, the grit and the perseverance. In the words of one player, “Now that is how you win a championship!” Thanks to all the coaches and parents for their unending support.
