Concussion Information

Concussions & Concussion Management

A concussion is an injury to the brain caused by a blow to the head or to another part of the body that causes the brain to move inside the skull.

Our governing body, the GTHL Canada, has produced a very thorough Concussion Policy that the Mississauga Hockey League recommends be followed in all cases of suspected concussions.  To review this Policy, which includes General Concussion Symptoms (and “Red Flag” symptoms), a Concussion Report Form, and Return to Play Protocol, please click here.

In order to document a concussion for Hockey Canada (i.e. Insurance) purposes, please use the Suspected Concussion Report Form.

And once you’re ready to return to play, as approved by a licensed medical practitioner, please compete a Return to Play Form.

For further information, please visit the GTHL website, http://gthlcanada.com/concussions.
