Boston PizzaBoston Pizza MHL President’s Cup Trophy

For the past 13 seasons the Mississauga Hockey League has awarded the President’s Trophy to the “A” team who collects the highest percentage of available points to the end of the Regular Season.

On February 1st, MHL President Brian Webster presented the trophy to the Lorne Park Clarkson Wild Midget Sr. 111 team.  Congratulations on a perfect record through the regular season!

OHF Midget ChampionshipLorne Park Clarkson Wild

The MHL, in conjunction with the Midget A Lorne Park Clarkson #111 team, will be hosting the prestigious OHF Provincial Championships Apr 7-9.  It is an honour to be a part of these championships for the players, coaches and parents and no less so for the on-ice officials.  The MHL and GTHL will be splitting the officiating crew.  There will be 5 Referees and 10 Linespersons participating in the event.  They have been selected from a group of approximately 450 officials that officiate under the GTHL umbrella.  Unlike in the MHL, where the Midget A division uses a four official system, this OHF tournament will incorporate the 3 official system which is used in the other Midget A areas under the OHF

Lorne Park Clarkson Wild Dinner-Dance

Lorne Park Clarkson members came out in force for 1st Annual LPC Wild Dinner-Dance and Silent Auction.  Almost 600 volunteers, parents and community members attended the newly merged association’s fundraiser on Friday, January 27nd at Lakeshore Convention Centre. A huge selection of silent auction items was on display to raise funds for the association. Attendees enjoyed a buffet dinner, dancing and an opportunity to socialize with their hockey community.  A “WILD” time was had by all!

Support your association and enjoy a night out away from the rink.  Phantom Wolves, Applewood and Erindale Hockey Associations have recently held their special evenings.  Upcoming dinners being held are Meadowvale Hockey Association on Friday, February 24th and Port Credit Hockey Association on Saturday, February 25th.  Check your association website for details.

Inclement Weather Policy

A reminder as we head deeper into winter!
In instances when the jurisdiction of the Mississauga Hockey League is subjected to severe weather that requires consideration of the cancellation of the MHL League games the following notification procedure will be followed:

  1. Any Decision relating to the cancellation of games will be made by 3pm on a weeknight, 10:00 am Saturday or 3:00 pm Sunday.
  2. If a decision is made to cancel games, the MHL will forward notification through the following means:
    • Notification of Area Association Presidents
    • Posting on the MHL website
  3. On weekdays, any cancellation of games will be posted on the MHL website the moment the decision to cancel games is made.
  4. Parents and team officials are requested NOT to call the MHL office or City Facilities about the potential cancellation of games. The official notification system is via the MHL website and email.

In the absence of a cancellation notice being posted on the MHL website by 3:00pm on weekdays or 2 hours before the scheduled game on weekends, parents, players and teams should assume that the League games will be played as scheduled.
Most importantly, the MHL encourages parents to leave enough travel time to arrive safely and drive according to the weather conditions.

Lorne Park Clarkson team show their Charitable Spirit

Lorne Park Clarkson Peewee A 71 collected food items, toilet paper and diapers to donate to the Kerr St. Mission on their visit to the facility on January 19th.  Team and parents met for a tour and got to work restocking the shelves.  Team parent volunteer Tina Rizzuto-Willan reports “The players were duly impressed with the programs offered and how they could assist in helping not just families in need, but youth at risk.  An inspiring evening for all involved.”
