Starting in the 2018-2019 season, Hockey Canada and the Ontario Hockey Federation mandated that U8 (7-year-old, formerly Minor Novice) players will participate in modified-ice games, followed by U9 (8-year old, formerly Novice) players in 2019-2020. In accordance with the Ontario Hockey Federation mandate and in consideration of the recommendations, The Mississauga Hockey League (MHL) and our 6 Member Hockey Associations have introduced modified-ice games for the U8 and U9 divisions as per the Half-Ice Framework.
