Dear MHL Families:

By way of update, on May 19th, the Greater Toronto Hockey League released its Return-to-Play Plan for the 2021-22 hockey season.   We would like to provide some additional context on what the GTHL’s plan means for the Mississauga Hockey League and our six Area Associations.

House League Registration
Minor hockey associations in Mississauga and Toronto will be allowed to open registration for the 2021-22 season on June 14th.  The MHL is working to open our registration system on that date.  However, variables beyond our control may force us to defer this registration opening date.  Rest assured that we ARE working on a 2021-22 hockey season and we’ll invite you to register as soon as we’re able.

Player evaluations are scheduled to commence in early October, and the MHL house league season is scheduled to start on October 24th.  Should the season be delayed, fees will be prorated.

Competitive Development (i.e. Gold) Programs
For house league players who wish to tryout for a Gold team (U8/U9), tryouts will begin in late September and the MHL regular season will commence on October 3rd.

“A” Prep Sessions, Tryouts & Registration
The A level tryout period will begin on September 24th and the MHL regular season will commence on October 12th.  Player registration for A hockey will be handled somewhat differently for 2021-22.  Communication regarding this registration will come from your Home Association or from the coaching staff of each team.  If you don’t currently play in the MHL, give our office a call (905-607-1118) and we can explain your options.

The GTHL is planning to host “prep sessions” for U10 and U11 players who would like to get some ice time ahead of the tryout period. Pre-registration for these sessions will be required.  We will provide updates on the dates and times as soon as they are available.

Please note that all dates announced above remain flexible, and are contingent on a safe public health situation.

Stay positive, enjoy your summer, and we’ll see you in the fall!
