The Mississauga Hockey League (MHL) and its’ Area Associations are currently working with the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) and all of its’ Members and will release a comprehensive Return to Play framework on August 31, 2020 outlining what hockey will look like this season. The safety of all players is of the utmost importance and the framework will include measures to keep all participants safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The first step of this plan will be the formal opening of “A” player registration for the 2020-21 season on September 7, 2020.

The Plan includes an anticipated return to on-ice activity in modified form after October 7, 2020, with a staged expansion as public health guidelines permit.

No formal in-person on or off the ice tryouts will be taking place. Tryouts will be conducted through a paper selection process by our clubs and we will also offer a variety of flexible registration options.

House League registration opened in the Spring and we will continue to accept registrants.

On and off ice training will commence in groups of no more than 20 with physical distancing measures in place. The main focus as we return to the ice initially will be on individual skill development but on-ice activity can include traditional skill development as well as scrimmages of 3 on 3 or 4 on 4.

As the public health situation develops, it may allow for more traditional forms of hockey to resume. Further details on subsequent phases and what activity will be permitted in later phases will be included in the August 30, 2020 Return to Play Framework.

We appreciate the patience and cooperation of players, parents, coaches, and other MHL stakeholders at this time. We are excited and eager to welcome you back to the ice.
