Hockey 101

For those who didn’t grow up around hockey, it can be a fairly confusing game.  Hooking, offside, interference, icing… it’s all a bit much if you’ve never played the game or grown up watching it.

Hockey Canada and Sport Chek have produced a hockey “primer” called Hockey 101.  To view and/or download a copy, click here.  Note that this is a fairly large file, at 8.4MB, though it is a relatively short but informative document that will help with:

– The equipment that you’ll require, and where it goes;

– What all those lines and circles on the ice surface are for;

– Icing & Offside;

– What all those Referee signals signify; and

– How to encourage and motivate your player.
